Mounting cards are designed to hold board-mount drives such as the Z-series drives for prototyping. Board-mount drives are intended to be mounted directly to the PCB however in the prototype stage most designers don't have the PCB designed yet.
These boards simplify connection to the controller, motor and feedback and allow system designers to experiment with different drive configurations and to run their machine before their custom PCB has been delivered.
These boards aren't just for prototyping - we also see plenty of applications that use these boards in production machines!
