AMC's Capabilities

The following parts have been discontinued and are no longer manufactured. Datasheets are provided as a courtesy but technical support may be limited. Replacements are suggested but a perfect drop-in replacement may not be possible. Contact the Advanced Motion Controls RMA department for repair options.

Parts are rarely discontinued at Advanced Motion Controls. Common reasons for discontinuing a part are:

  • A new design takes the place of multiple amplifiers (example: a single 120A10D incorporates the functionality of the 120A10-NH, 120A10-24 and 120A10-24NH)
  • A new series of drive has the same functionality and significant performance advantages over an older series (example: The SE and SR series were replaced by digital drives which have superior switching, commutation and functionality)
  • Technology has advanced further than the current design can follow
  • A custom part has been released for general sales

Private Labeled Parts

Advanced Motion Controls builds amplifiers for other motion control companies (private label). As a rule, we do not support private labeled parts nor do we suggest standard AMC amplifiers to replace custom amplifiers without the permission of the private labeled company. Technical questions are referred to the company that initiated the custom design. Since we do not directly sell private labeled amplifiers, sales of the custom are also referred to this company.

The following amplifiers were private labeled and discontinued. We were given permission by the following companies to provide information for replacements.

Electrocraft

Advanced Motion Controls private labeled these drives for Reliance/Electrocraft. Electrocraft is now a part of the Allen-Bradley and Rockwell family and Advanced Motion Controls no longer private labels drives for them. However, we do supply drop in replacements with the AMC label.

Kollmorgen

Advanced Motion Controls private labeled these drives for Kollmorgen. Kollmorgen is now a part of the Danaher Motion Control family and Advanced Motion Controls no longer private labels drives for them. However, we do supply standard AMC drives that can be configured as near drop in replacements.

Software

AMC recommends only using the latest version of software and firmware. Older versions are made available for the convenience of customers that have locked in their designs with older software and firmware. However, this software is no longer supported by technical support. Please be aware that in many cases, old software and new servo drives are not compatible because of differences in firmware. Contact technical support if attempting to replace drives that have old firmware with drives that have new firmware.

Phase out process

On the rare occasion when we must discontinue a model, we follow a phase-out process that gives our customers time to incorporate a recommended replacement. Phase out often extends over several years and follows this general path:

First the model is removed from the website to reduce the number of new applications that use the model. We also notify existing customers that phase out is taking place.

After several years restrictions may be used to further reduce the number of parts being ordered, such as requiring a minimum quantity per order or limiting purchases to existing users.

After the customer base has been significantly reduced, we offer a final purchase and then cease sales.
