Servo Drive Trends for 2024

Planned Releases in 2024

As we move into 2024, we are excited to share the new features and developments coming to our servo drive lineup. Our ongoing commitment to innovation and customer satisfaction drives us to continually enhance our products. This year, we are set to release several key features that will expand the functionality and flexibility of our servo drives, providing even more options for your applications.

Dual Universal Feedback

Primary and Auxiliary feedbackOne of the most anticipated features arriving in 2024 is the Dual Universal Feedback capability. Set to be available through an upcoming firmware release, this feature will initially be rolled out on our panel mount servo drives. Dual Universal Feedback allows users to mix and match primary and secondary encoder types, such as incremental encoders and absolute encoders, within the same axis of motion.

This feature gives designers the flexibility to use the feedback of their choice. For those utilizing absolute encoders, Dual Universal Feedback will support: EnDat, BiSS C-Mode, SSI, Tamagawa, and Hyperface.

SSI Encoder Feedback

In line with expanding our encoder feedback options, we are also introducing Synchronous Serial Interface (SSI) Encoder feedback. This addition, which will be part of an upcoming firmware release, will further enhance the range of absolute encoder feedback options available to you. With SSI Encoder support, your drives will be capable of integrating seamlessly with systems that rely on this popular protocol, improving overall system compatibility and performance.

Current Loop Autotuning

ACE software packageWe know that system efficiency and ease of use are critical to our customers. That’s why we are excited to introduce Current Loop Autotuning in an upcoming firmware release. This feature will allow for automatic tuning of the current loop, simplifying setup and optimization processes.

By automatically adjusting the current loop parameters, this feature ensures optimal performance without the need for extensive manual tuning, saving time and reducing potential errors.

Potential 2024 Releases

While the above features are confirmed for release this year, we are also working diligently on a few additional developments that, depending on our progress, may be available in 2024.

200V FlexPro Servo Drives

Small Servo Drive PCB with copper pins and screw lug terminalsThe FlexPro family is known for its compact size and powerful performance, and we are looking to expand this lineup with new models that can operate up to 200VDC.

Currently, FlexPro drives support up to 100VDC, so this enhancement will open up new possibilities for higher voltage applications. We hope to bring this feature to market later this year.

FlexPro Panel Mount Servo Drives

Another exciting potential release for 2024 is the first variety of FlexPro Panel Mount drives. These are targeted for a Q4 launch and will offer the same high performance and compact design as our current FlexPro models, but with the added convenience of a panel mount form factor.

Position Around Velocity and Position around Current Loop Autotuning

Finally, we are working on adding Position Around Velocity Loop Autotuning and Position Around Current Loop Autotuning in an upcoming ACE release. These features will enhance the tuning process, providing a more refined control loop that improves system performance and stability. Stay tuned for more details as we finalize this development.

Conclusion

2024 is shaping up to be a year of significant advancements for our servo drives. Whether you're looking to expand your system's flexibility with Dual Universal Feedback, improve efficiency with Current Loop Autotuning, or explore new capabilities with the potential FlexPro updates, we have exciting developments on the horizon.

We appreciate your continued trust in our products and look forward to supporting your success with these new features.

As always, we remain committed to delivering cutting-edge technology that meets your needs. We’re excited for what’s ahead and can’t wait to share these innovations with you throughout the year.
