Mode Switching

On-the-fly Mode Switching (or Hot Switching) allows a user to toggle between operating modes while a servo drive is in operation. For instance, a drive running in Torque Mode in a feed-to-torque/force application may require precise positioning at the end of a motion profile and need to change to Position Mode with no interruption to the system.

Mode Switching

Benefits

  • Provides application-specific flexibility by allowing optimal control mode selection for different move profiles within a single system
  • Establishes a known baseline of behavior by loading a known configuration

ADVANCED Motion Controls' Capabilities

  • All ADVANCED Motion Controls’ DigiFlex® Performance drives are capable of on-the-fly mode switching via digital inputs, network commands, or stored initial values
  • Drive Configuration settings are initialized in DriveWare®
